Police action at a private restaurant in Lataguri has raised serious concerns among local tourism business owners ahead of the Durga festival season.
Authorities recently conducted a raid at a private restaurant in Lataguri. During this operation,
three women from Siliguri were detained, and
five young men from Assam along with a restaurant employee were arrested by the police. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
Lataguri has more than seventy restaurants and attracts many visitors every year to the nearby Gorumara and Chapramari forests.
Forests are scheduled to reopen for tourists from September sixteenth after remaining closed for nearly three months.
Tourism business leaders have urged operators to be careful and demanded strict administrative steps to stop such illegal activities. Officials are continuing checks on other restaurants in the area.
