Administration in Jalpaiguri raided private resorts in Lataguri after receiving complaints about poor food safety.

Sudden Raids On Lataguri Resorts

Mal Sub-Divisional Officer Utkarsh Khandal led a team of officials to inspect multiple luxury and private resorts in Lataguri on Tuesday evening. The raid team included Kranti BDO Rimil Soren, Food Department official Nauma Lepcha, and police officers from Kranti outpost. Authorities checked food storage, gas cylinders, and overall kitchen rules during the surprise inspection.

Expired Food And Poor Quality Found

Officers found expired food items and spoiled meals inside the kitchens of some resorts during the checks. Some food samples reportedly even contained insects. Mal Sub-Divisional Officer Utkarsh Khandal stated that the inspections are part of ongoing consumer protection week activities to check if resorts follow government rules. Officials collected food samples and sent them to a laboratory for testing, and legal action will follow if reports show any rule violations.
