Three youths were taken into custody by the police after a speeding car caused multiple crashes in Kolkata's Newtown area on early Friday morning.
The car was being driven recklessly by three youths who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol and created a ruckus inside the vehicle. The vehicle hit several places on its way from Balaka Mori in Newtown, causing severe damage to its front portion.
One of the car's wheels came off while moving towards the Newtown gate, leaving only a bare iron ring. Despite losing a wheel, the driver continued to drive the car at high speed in a zig-zag manner until it finally crashed into a guard wall in front of the Biswa Bangla Gate and came to a stop.
The Newtown police station team reached the spot upon receiving information about the accident and seized the damaged car along with detaining the three youths. Police stated that during initial questioning, the youths admitted to hitting multiple places, and officers are now investigating the exact speed of the car and the role of the driver.
