The final draft of the new ward delimitation for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has been released by the state urban development department. Citizens, concerned people, and political parties now have the opportunity to submit their objections, opinions, and suggestions regarding the proposed boundaries of the new wards.
The department has set a deadline of September 3 for submitting any objections or suggestions. These can be submitted during office hours to the municipal commissioner from August 22 onwards.
After a 2026 amendment, the number of wards in the corporation has increased from 144 to 209. An all-party meeting has been called at the municipal corporation office to discuss the new draft with political parties. The meeting is chaired by municipal administrator and commissioner Smita Pandey.
The released document details the north, south, east, and west boundaries of the different wards based on roads, canals, railways, and rivers.
