Kolkata Kumartuli Ghat set for major makeover before Durga Puja

Kolkata historical Kumartuli Ghat is getting a complete makeover before the upcoming Durga Puja festival. The beautification work is moving at a fast pace to make Kumartuli a major heritage tourism center, as many tourists visit this place from across the country and the world.

Development Work and Cost

A 300-meter stretch of the Hooghly river from Kumartuli to Champatala Ghat is being developed with a cost of about 10 crore rupees. This project is a joint effort by the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited.

Inauguration and Tourism Plan

The new ghat is likely to be opened on September 24 in a major event. The state tourism department is making a master plan to give better facilities to visitors and protect the historical identity of the area. This development will also help local artisans and boost tourism business.
