A 46-year-old woman died on Monday afternoon after a tree suddenly fell on her inside the SSKM hospital campus in Kolkata. The victim has been identified as Rahida Bibi, a resident of Nalhati in the Birbhum district, who was visiting a relative admitted to the hospital.
The accident occurred outside the trauma care building when the tree broke and collapsed unexpectedly, trapping the woman underneath. According to initial reports, she died on the spot.
Bhawanipore police station officers arrived at the location immediately after receiving information about the incident. The police took the body into custody and started the process to send it for a post-mortem examination while investigating the exact cause of the sudden tree collapse.
