Kaziranga National Park Reopens For New Tourism Season

Kaziranga National Park in Assam has officially opened for the 2026-27 tourism season following the annual monsoon closure. The season was inaugurated on October 3, 2026, at the Kohora Range by Assam Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Atul Bora, and MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa.

Safaris and Visitor Numbers

Jeep safaris started on the opening day, and authorities expect elephant safaris to resume within 10 to 20 days or by November 1, 2026, depending on route preparations. Officials expect tourist numbers to break previous records based on current booking trends. The park recorded 5,48,319 visitors, including 32,765 international tourists, between April 1, 2025, and May 28, 2026.

Digital Bookings and Tourism Events

The Assam government has improved digital bookings through the Assam Sewa Setu Portal and the official Kaziranga booking system, focusing on wildlife conservation. The 14th International Tourism Mart will be held in Tawang from October 29 to 31, 2026, hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to promote Northeast tourism with delegates from 27 nations.
