Kaziranga National Park Opens New Tourism Season

Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve officially commenced its 2026-27 tourism season on Saturday, October 3, 2026, following the annual monsoon closure. The season was inaugurated at the Central Kohora Range by Assam Environment and Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, who was joined by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Atul Bora and Kaziranga MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa.

Safari Timings and Bookings

Jeep safaris are currently operational with two daily slots available from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, while elephant safaris are expected to resume within 10 to 20 days pending final preparations ANI News. Park authorities have reported a steady surge in domestic and international safari bookings, building on the momentum of the 2025-26 season, which recorded 4,68,147 visitors including 30,474 foreign tourists.

Wildlife Protection and Speed Limits

To safeguard wildlife habitats, authorities are enforcing strict eco-tourism guidelines across the Central and Western ranges. On National Highway 37 (NH-715), which traverses the park, a maximum speed limit of 40 km/hr remains in effect. Violators are subject to a ₹5,000 environmental compensation fine in addition to standard penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act. Speed regulation is further supported by a time card system and animal sensor cameras positioned along the route.
