Kaliyaganj Station Upgrade Under Amrit Bharat Scheme

The Union Ministry of Railways has provided an update on the ongoing modernization of Kaliyaganj Railway Station and the status of the new Kaliyaganj-Buniadpur rail line project in North Dinajpur. These developments follow efforts by Raiganj MP Kartik Chandra Paul to fast-track infrastructure projects in the region.

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Progress

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Indian Railways is currently modernizing 1,340 stations across the country. A total of 102 stations in West Bengal have been included in this initiative, which covers Kaliyaganj station. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide modern amenities, upgrade station buildings, and ensure railway infrastructure is prepared for future passenger requirements.

Completed Infrastructure Upgrades

Several key construction works have already been completed at the Kaliyaganj station premises. The upgrades include a 12-meter wide modern foot overbridge, the installation of passenger lifts, and the expansion and height adjustment of platform number one. Additionally, the station now features new platform sheds, improved platform surfaces, upgraded bank walls for platform number two, new toilet blocks, and a modern waiting room for passengers. Work on the station building, circulating area, and boundary walls is currently progressing at a steady pace.

Kaliyaganj to Buniadpur Rail Line

Significant updates were also shared regarding the new Kaliyaganj-Buniadpur rail line project. The Ministry of Railways has allocated 128 crore rupees for the 2025-26 fiscal year to support this development. The project requires the acquisition of 168 hectares of land, and the formal process for land acquisition has already commenced to ensure the project moves forward as planned.
