Joint Security Forces Recover Weapons Cache in Manipur

Joint security forces successfully recovered a large cache of weapons and apprehended suspects during targeted operations in Manipur. On September 14, 2026, security teams conducted operations to stop illegal arms movements in the state.

Weapons Recovery in Noney District

In Irang village located in the Taobam area of Noney district, security personnel carried out a search mission in a forest. Forces recovered one Single Barrel Breech Loading gun, nine live rounds of ammunition, and two wireless sets hidden in trenches. One suspect was caught at the site and taken to a high-security facility for questioning regarding arms supply cells.

Arrest and Seizure in Kakching District

In a separate operation on the same day, security forces raided the Wangoo Nongyaikhong area in Kakching district. Authorities arrested a 25-year-old local individual named Sorokhaibam Rakesh. Following his interrogation, forces found a weapons cache that included an INSAS rifle, a .303 rifle, magazines, gunpowder, cartridge cases, and rounds of ammunition.

Security Measures After the Operations

Following these recoveries, security teams have set up strict checkposts along interior transit junctions. Vehicular searches are currently underway to stop unauthorized arms transit between foothill sectors and hill corridors.
