A headteacher was beaten up by students during a dispute over a special mid-day meal at a school in Jalpaiguri.

The incident took place at a Jalpaiguri district school on Tuesday during a special mid-day meal event organized for Teachers Day. Some class 10 students went to the mid-day meal room to get information, which led to an argument with the headteacher, Dharmachand Barai.

Students Protest and Allegations

Students alleged that the headteacher beat them up, while a group of students was accused of assaulting the headteacher and causing injuries to his nose and mouth. The protesting students raised slogans demanding justice and removal of the headteacher, while also complaining about poor food quality and irregularities in mid-day meal materials.

Police Intervention

Police reached the school premises after receiving information and safely rescued the headteacher to control the tense situation. Police have started an investigation into the entire matter, although the allegations made by the students have not been independently verified.
