Local residents spotted the lizard struggling near the water body on Saturday and immediately informed the wildlife conservation organization Uttar Dinajpur Peoples for Animals. A four-member team led by the organization's general secretary Gautam Tantia reached the spot after receiving a call from local resident Robin Barman and safely rescued the injured animal.

Treatment and Release Plan

The rescued lizard will be handed over to the Raiganj forest department officials for medical treatment and health checkups under veterinary supervision. The animal will be released back into its natural habitat after recovering completely.
