Indian Army Warns Public About Fake Arunachal Border Video

The Indian Army has issued a public warning about a digitally manipulated deepfake video circulating on social media. The fake video falsely claimed that a senior military officer admitted China took control of border areas in Arunachal Pradesh.

Details of the Fake Video

The misleading clip used synthetic generated information like AI voice cloning over actual archival footage. The false video stated that Lieutenant General Girish Kalia said China took control of Asaphila, Longjou, and Taksing Circle. It also claimed Indian Army troops were denied essential supplies.

Origin of the Real Footage

The military revealed that the original footage is from a press briefing recorded on October 27, 2023, in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. At that time, Major General Girish Kalia spoke about counter-terrorist operations along the Line of Control, reporting 10 foiled infiltration attempts and the elimination of 27 terrorists. The officer made no statements about China or supply restrictions. You can check the Original Statement for verification.
