India and Myanmar Discuss New Defence Steps

India and Myanmar held a meeting to check progress on defence work and talked about new ways to work together. The third India-Myanmar Defence Cooperation Meeting took place in Guwahati on 7 October 2026.

Key Officials at the Meeting

The meeting was led together by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Myanmar's Chief of Armed Forces Training, Lt Gen Pyae Sone Linn. Both countries looked at the work done on defence plans made at the last meeting in Yangon in 2025.

Focus on Training and Security

The two sides talked about new ways to build training and make security stronger. Myanmar thanked India for help given through Operation Brahma after the earthquake in Myanmar.

Earlier in May, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi met the head of the Myanmar Navy, Admiral Htein Win, in Naypyitaw. They spoke about growing navy ties, training exchanges, and maritime security in the Bay of Bengal.
