IIT Mandi has started a new mobile science education programme to help school students in Himachal Pradesh. The initiative is called Science on Wheels and is supported by the Department of Science and Technology.
The programme aims to reach 50 schools across the state for students studying in classes 6 to 12. It helps bridge the gap between textbook learning and real experiments.
Schools in districts like Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Kangra will be covered under this project. Each school visit includes a six-hour programme with hands-on learning in space technology, robotics, sustainability and water filtration.
IIT Mandi Director Laxmidhar Behera inaugurated the programme at the campus school with a live hydro-rocket demonstration. The project is developed in partnership with Plaksha University and the Igniting Dreams of Young Minds Foundation.
