The Department of Design at IIT Guwahati hosted the inaugural International Conference on Design and Innovation Studies, known as INDIS 2026, at its campus. The three-day event took place from September 28 to 30, 2026, bringing together global experts, researchers, and policymakers to discuss sustainable design solutions.
The conference was conducted alongside Asia Design Week, marking the first time this international platform was held in India.
Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Assam Minister of Education, attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest, while
Paban Kr. Borthakur served as the guest of honour.
Participants discussed human-centred design, digital service systems, and public sector innovation across multiple sessions.
Prof. Pratul Chandra Kalita stated that 81 papers were presented and 100 entries were displayed during the multidisciplinary event.
