IHC Theatre Festival 2026 ends with Sikkim Repertory performance
The IHC Theatre Festival 2026 concluded on Sunday, September 27, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The event featured a diverse range of plays in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Punjabi, focusing on the theme Depth, Dynamism and Distinctiveness of Indian Theatre.
Performance by Sikkim Repertory Company
The festival ended with a Hindi production called Bhasbharatam, presented by the National School of Drama (NSD) Sikkim Repertory Company. This marked the first time the Sikkim Repertory Company performed in Delhi. The closing ceremony was attended by Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director of the National School of Drama, and Prof. Dr. K.G. Suresh, Director of the India Habitat Centre.
Diverse Theatre Productions
Over ten days, the festival brought together established and emerging theatrical voices. The programme included plays such as Dancing With Dad, Breast of Luck, Amb Da Boota, The Tragedy of Ham Maclear, and Window Tak Aashiqui. The Tamil production Cilappatikaram / The Anklet's Verdict also showcased classical literary traditions.
Other featured productions included Har Marz Ki Dawa, The Queen, Maaye Ni Meri Akh Lag Gayai, Home in a Suitcase, and Hindi Medium Tight. The festival saw full-house audiences throughout its duration, reflecting a strong continuing engagement with live theatre.
