Heavy Rain Alert Issued Across West Bengal Districts

The regional meteorological center in Alipore has forecast continued rainfall across West Bengal as the monsoon remains active. According to the Hindusthan Samachar report, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in many districts throughout the state.
Weather Forecast for South Bengal
Weather officials have stated that atmospheric conditions remain active across South Bengal. Districts including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, East and West Bardhaman, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia are expected to experience increased rainfall. The department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some of these locations. Residents in coastal and western districts are advised to remain alert due to the risk of lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour.
Impact on North Bengal and Coastal Areas
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal is also bracing for significant weather changes. Districts such as Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and North Dinajpur are likely to witness cloudy skies and heavy rainfall. Authorities have warned of potential waterlogging in low-lying areas due to the continuous downpour in various parts of the state, particularly in East and West Medinipur and Jhargram.
Advisory for Fishermen and Coastal Residents
Due to adverse weather conditions along the West Bengal and Odisha coasts, as well as the northern Bay of Bengal, the meteorological department has issued a strict warning. Winds in the sea may reach speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, with gusts potentially hitting 60 kilometers per hour. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea until the weather improves. Citizens are requested to exercise caution during periods of severe weather.
