West Bengal Health Minister Dr. Shardwat Mukherjee visited the Burdwan Medical College for a surprise check on Friday morning. This follows another sudden visit made by the minister to the same hospital on Thursday night.
The health minister inspected the maternity department of the medical college at around 10:45 AM on Friday. Two other state ministers, Moumita Biswas Mishra and Khudiram Tudu, accompanied him during this visit. The hospital administration was not given any prior notice about this inspection.
On Thursday night, the health minister made sudden visits to government hospitals in Purba Burdwan. He first went to the Barshul Block Hospital to check the emergency services, doctor and nurse duties, availability of medicines and vaccines, and the maintenance of records. Following that, he visited the Burdwan Medical College Hospital to review the overall arrangements.
