Guwahati University Student Found Dead At Homestay, One Arrested

A 22-year-old girl student of Gauhati University was found unconscious at a homestay near Azara in Guwahati and later declared dead at a hospital, police said.

Police Arrest Youth

Police have arrested a youth named Ashik Ali in connection with the incident. Bolin Deori, DCP (West), stated that three youths admitted the student at Azara Primary Health Centre early Saturday morning before she was referred to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Protests By Locals

Police found injury marks on the body of the deceased girl. Following the incident, locals and students staged a protest in the Dharapur area demanding strict action against the accused person while police investigation remains underway.
