Guwahati Firing Kills Five People Over Property Dispute

Five people were killed in a tragic firing incident near Hotel Bilas Inn in the Ulubari area of Guwahati on Tuesday. Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi expressed deep concern over the incident and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and stated that public safety is a major issue.

Police Action and Arrest

Guwahati Police Commissioner Dr Partha Sarathi Mahanta stated that the accused named Ghanakanta Gogoi has been arrested by the authorities. Police suspect that the shooting happened due to a property dispute connected to the lease agreement of Hotel Bilas Inn. Ambulances and a Forensic Science Laboratory team visited the location to collect evidence.

Hospital Details on Victims

Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital Prof. Dr Babul Kumar Bezbaruah said the hospital received information about the event at night. One person named Narayan Das was brought dead to the hospital with a bullet injury. Police are continuing their investigation into the tragic shooting.
