Guwahati to Dibrugarh Train Services Resume After Repairs

The Northeast Frontier Railway has officially restored the rail corridor between Guwahati and Dibrugarh following the completion of repair work on tracks damaged by recent floods. Train services resumed operations as of 4:00 PM after workers successfully fixed the sections located between Selenghat, Amguri, Simaluguri, and Sivasagar Town.

Restoration of Vital Rail Link

The rail section under the Tinsukia Division faced significant disruption when the Dikhow River overflowed its banks. The floodwaters covered railway tracks, station yards, and other essential infrastructure in the Sivasagar district. The railway department confirmed that all necessary safety inspections and track clearances are now finished, allowing both passenger and freight trains to travel through this route once again.

Impact of Flood Disruptions

Before these repairs were completed, the flooding forced officials to suspend train services along this specific path. During the closure, many trains were either cancelled or diverted through the Rangiya–Rangapara North route to avoid the affected areas. Dedicated teams of engineers and repair crews worked continuously to fix the damaged tracks, replace the ballast, and check the signal systems to ensure that travel is safe for all passengers moving between Upper Assam and the rest of the country.
