Guwahati to Dibrugarh Rail Services Resume After Flood Repairs

Train services between Guwahati and Dibrugarh have officially resumed after the restoration of the rail line passing through Sivasagar. The rail corridor connecting Selenghat, Amguri, Simaluguri, and Sivasagar Town became operational at 4:00 PM, allowing for the return of direct train traffic via Lumding and Sivasagar.

Impact of Flood Damage on Rail Infrastructure

This essential rail section is managed by the Tinsukia Division of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). Operations were previously suspended after heavy rains caused the Dikhow River to overflow. The floodwaters submerged railway tracks, station yards, and critical infrastructure across the Sivasagar district. During this period, the railway authorities were forced to cancel several trains and divert traffic through the Rangiya–Rangapara North route to manage the disruption.

Restoration Efforts by Railway Teams

Railway engineers, supervisors, and specialized repair crews worked continuously to fix the damaged sections. The restoration process included repairing the tracks, reinforcing the ballast, and conducting detailed inspections of all signal systems to guarantee passenger safety.
