Seven persons have been arrested by Guwahati Police in connection with the alleged assault of a woman at a bar in Khanapara. A video of the incident had circulated on social media on October 2, showing the woman being attacked.
Police conducted an enquiry and examined available CCTV footage after receiving the information.
The video revealed that the victim was assaulted inside the bar around 2:30 AM before being dragged to the basement by her hair and clothes.
The establishment was operating beyond its permitted closing time of 12:30 AM and failed to inform the local police about the incident.
A suo motu case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and legal action has been taken against all seven arrested individuals.
