Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers will build two new belly bridges at the Aranya tourist property in Jaldapara to fix long-standing travel problems in the area. West Bengal tourism minister Shankar Ghosh shared this update during a recent event in Kolkata.
This project comes after severe floods in North Bengal in 2025 damaged local roads and washed away the main bridge leading to the tourist spot, trapping many visitors at that time.
The new bridges will restore proper connectivity for tourists visiting the famous wildlife region.
The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur is providing technical help for the foundation work of these bridges.
State officials stated that strong infrastructure is necessary to protect tourism and handle heavy rains and floods in North Bengal.
