Gauhati University Student Death Case Prime Accused in Custody
The prime accused in the Gauhati University student death case has been remanded to police custody for 14 days. The arrest follows an investigation into the death of a 22-year-old girl student who was found unconscious at a local homestay in the Azara area of Guwahati.
Police Investigation and Arrest
West Guwahati DCP Bolin Deori confirmed that the prime accused, Ashiq Ali, was arrested in connection with the incident. According to police, the accused and the victim had checked into a homestay called Rudra's kitchen on September 25. The police received information that the girl was unconscious and she was later declared brought dead at GMCH.
Case Details and Evidence
A case has been registered at the Azara Police Station under Sections 127(2), 117(2), 70(1), and 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have examined CCTV footage from the homestay and are continuing to question three other people from the facility. The investigation is ongoing to determine if anyone else was involved in the incident.
Family Demands Justice
The father of the deceased student has claimed that this is a murder case and has demanded exemplary punishment for the accused. He expressed faith in the police administration and the Assam government, requesting the Chief Minister to take strict action against the culprits.
