Police have detained four students in connection with the alleged assault of the headmaster at Jalpaiguri District School. The Kotwali police station initially detained one student, and three more students were taken into custody on Saturday. According to police sources, all four detained students will be presented before the Juvenile Justice Board on Saturday. Reports also indicate that the school has issued transfer certificates to the students allegedly involved in the incident.
The conflict began on Teachers Day following a dispute between the headmaster and students at
Jalpaiguri District School. It is alleged that certain students assaulted the headmaster, causing him injuries. Following the incident, the
Kotwali police station launched an investigation and gradually identified and detained the four students.
State school education minister
Dipak Barman visited Jalpaiguri District School and held meetings with the school management committee, teachers, and headmasters of various schools. The minister specifically directed authorities to identify the students involved in the incident and issue them
transfer certificates, following which the four accused students were reportedly given their transfer certificates.
