Four Killed in Arunachal Pradesh Road Site Landslide

A massive landslide at a road construction site in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh has resulted in the death of four people. The incident took place on Friday afternoon at a Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) site near Nacho village. Rescue teams successfully recovered all four bodies by Saturday afternoon following an extensive operation involving the State Disaster Response Force, local police, and fire services as reported by ANI.

Details of the Victims and Survivor

The four victims have been identified as Tadu Baki, Taji Rai, Markarosh Basumatary, and Babul Ali. One other person, Sonar Basumatary, survived the landslide. The survivor received initial medical treatment at a hospital in Daporijo before being referred to Itanagar for advanced care according to United News of India.

Impact on Local Infrastructure

The rescue mission faced significant difficulties due to heavy rainfall, thick debris, and the dangerous nature of the hilly terrain. Officials reported that the site remains unstable and prone to further landslides. The disaster has caused major road connectivity problems, resulting in NH-77 being placed under a red status, which restricts traffic movement in the affected area as confirmed by official updates.
