Police have arrested four individuals accused of stealing cattle from the state road in the Lalpul area of Naxalbari. The arrested persons have been identified as Noor Alam, Mohammad Rafees, Siddique Ali, and Mohammad Rafiqul, all of whom are residents of the Bagdogra area. Authorities have also seized a pickup van used in the alleged crime.

Details of the Theft Incident

According to local reports, a group stole a cow standing by the roadside late Friday night by loading it into a four-wheeler vehicle. Following the incident, local residents reviewed CCTV footage and filed a formal complaint at the Naxalbari police station. The residents demanded immediate police action and the arrest of those involved in the theft.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Acting on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation into the matter. During a routine Naka checking operation late Monday night on Asian Highway 2, officers stopped a suspicious vehicle heading toward Naxalbari. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered ropes and other suspicious items. The four occupants were taken into custody after their statements were found to be inconsistent during questioning. According to the report from Hindusthan Samachar, the police are currently continuing with further legal proceedings regarding the case.
