Fake Ticket Collector Caught At Majerhat Station

A fake ticket collector was caught at Majerhat railway station due to the smart thinking of a passenger and quick action by railway staff on Friday afternoon. The accused was trying to collect money as fines from passengers by pretending to be a railway ticket checker.
How The Incident Happened
An unauthorized person stopped a passenger at the station premises and asked for a fine. The passenger suspected his activities and questioned the validity of the fine, which led to an argument. Seeing the argument, railway staff on duty at Majerhat station immediately intervened and started looking into the matter. Upon checking his documents, the staff found his behavior suspicious and informed senior railway officials and security personnel.
Legal Action Taken
During questioning, the person could not show a valid railway identity card or any official documents. Checks confirmed that he was a fake ticket collector. He was taken into custody and handed over to the Railway Protection Force post at Ballygunge for legal action. A case was later registered against 32-year-old Subhajit Banerjee under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at IC/GRPS Ballygunge.
Railway Official Appeal
Sealdah Division Divisional Railway Manager Rajeev Saxena praised the alertness of the passenger and the quick action of the railway staff. He stated that the Sealdah division has a zero tolerance policy against fraud. He appealed to passengers to check official ID cards of railway employees and collect proper money receipts when paying any valid fine. Passengers were also urged to report suspicious persons to railway staff or call the railway helpline number 139 for quick help.
