Elderly Woman Dies After Toto Accident in Malda

A 70-year-old woman lost her life in a road accident while out for her morning walk in Malda on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Firoza Bibi. The incident took place near the Bhagwanpur bus stand on National Highway 31 during the early morning hours.

Details of the Accident

According to reports from Hindusthan Samachar, the woman was walking along the highway as part of her daily routine. A speeding Toto lost control and hit her near the Bhagwanpur bus stand, causing her to get trapped underneath the vehicle. Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot after hearing the noise and managed to pull the woman out from under the vehicle.

Medical Assistance and Police Action

Following the rescue, the injured woman was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared her dead upon examination. The local police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the accident. The police have seized the involved Toto and taken the driver into custody for further questioning.
