Workers and union members of the Durgapur Steel Plant held a major protest outside the administration office. They demanded immediate action on long-standing civic issues and housing problems.
The main issue raised during the protest was the new quarter licensing policy and its strict rules. Workers and retired employees are facing uncertainty about housing because of these new regulations.
Protesters demanded urgent repairs of broken roads, better street lights, and clean drinking water twice a day. They also asked for proper drainage cleaning and uninterrupted power supply. Other demands include better quality quarters for new employees and improved medical services at the Durgapur Steel Hospital.
