West Bengal tourism minister Shankar Ghosh has emphasized the need to protect forests while growing tourism in the Dooars region. World Tourism Day events were held on Saturday in Lataguri near Gorumara National Park by the tourism department and industry groups.
A panel discussion on the theme Bengal Beyond Boundaries started the program.
A six-kilometer marathon and a walk for nature protection were also held on the streets of Lataguri.
A new water park was inaugurated in Lataguri at the end of the program to support adventure tourism.
Tourists can enjoy activities like boating, water bubbles, and rock climbing at the new facility.
