Panchayat Minister Dilip Ghosh stated that schemes have set rules and only eligible people will get money under the Annapurna scheme. Protests and road blockades began in various parts of the state after people complained about not receiving money under the Annapurna scheme. While speaking to journalists on Saturday morning, Dilip Ghosh said that people have got used to receiving money. He added that everyone cannot get all benefits and every scheme has fixed limits and rules.
Protests started across the state because many people did not get money under the Annapurna scheme. Top administration officials had earlier stated that eligible beneficiaries would get money from August 17. However, when money was not credited, complaints led to protests and road blockades from Thursday. Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul also faced questions from women about not getting the scheme benefits when she visited Medinipur.
Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul advised women to talk to the local MLA regarding the issue. Agnimitra Paul blamed a section close to the ruling party for creating problems in the distribution. She stated that wrong people were being given money while eligible people were left out, causing anger. She also mentioned that she would inform the Chief Minister about the entire matter.
