The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway has decided to start six extra joy rides for tourists during the festive season. These new services are planned to run from October to December to manage the heavy rush of visitors.
Four single-trip joy rides will run on the Darjeeling and Ghum route using diesel engines. The fare for this trip is set at 800 rupees per passenger.
Two new joy rides named Red Panda and Muktdhara will run between Kurseong and Mahanadi. The Red Panda ride will use a traditional steam engine with a fare of 1,530 rupees, while the diesel-operated Muktdhara ride will cost 1,030 rupees per passenger.
