Darjeeling And Kalimpong Review Roads And Water Projects
An administrative review meeting for public works and public health engineering departments was held in Darjeeling on Monday. The meeting was chaired by PWD and PHE Minister Ajay Kumar Poddar to discuss ongoing development work.
Water and Road Project Progress
Progress of drinking water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission was reviewed during the session. Minister Ajay Kumar Poddar stressed completing all approved projects within the set deadline and prioritizing pending work. Discussions also covered ongoing, completed, and proposed road projects in Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, including the Darjeeling Circular Road and alternative highway proposals.
Tourism and Infrastructure Plans
Several proposals related to tourism and basic infrastructure were also presented in the meeting. These include the proposed Kurseong-Darjeeling ropeway, developing Jamuni as a tourist hub, and building extra parking facilities in Ghoom, Lebong, Kalimpong, Kurseong, and Mirik. Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, local MLAs, and senior administrative officials attended the meeting.
