CPIM and BJP trade barbs over recent political controversy

Political tensions have risen in West Bengal following the death of Sheikh Mohammad Mafik, the father of a Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) worker named Sheikh Abdul Hafiz. CPI(M) leaders including Shatarup Ghosh, Mayukh Biswas, and Debanjan De visited the family of the deceased in Bankura to express their support.

BJP and CPIM exchange sharp remarks

State Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh criticized the CPI(M) for their involvement in the matter. He questioned the origin of these political groups and accused communists of fostering social unrest. Dilip Ghosh stated that the state government will not allow any disruption to law and order in the region. In response, CPI(M) leader Shatarup Ghosh defended the party and advised the minister to focus on his official duties instead of making such statements.

CJP meeting cancellations lead to allegations

Meanwhile, the CJP faced difficulties in organizing a meeting in Kolkata. Party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka alleged that the booking for the Bharat Sabha Bhawan was cancelled due to pressure from local BJP leaders. Similar issues were reported at other venues and the Kolkata Press Club. The BJP has denied any involvement in the cancellation of these event bookings. The CJP has also presented a four-point demand regarding the case of Sheikh Abdul Hafiz. Official updates on state governance and policies can be monitored through the Government of West Bengal portal.
