A major accident was avoided when a container collided with a private school bus in Phulbari on Thursday evening. The incident took place near Battalion More on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway. There were no students inside the school bus at the time of the accident, which prevented a major tragedy.
According to the details, a private school bus was heading from Siliguri towards Phulbari.
A cow suddenly came onto the road, causing the bus driver to slow down his speed. At that moment, a container coming from behind hit the school bus. After the collision, the school bus went out of control and climbed onto the divider in the middle of the road.
The container also crashed into a guard wall situated on the side of the road. Both vehicles suffered damage in the accident.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Phulbari Highway Traffic Outpost and New Jalpaiguri police station teams reached the spot.
The police have started an investigation into the causes of the accident.
