Congress staged a protest march in Jalpaiguri on Wednesday to oppose the continuous rise in the prices of daily essential items. The protest was organized by the Jalpaiugri Town Block Congress Committee in the Dinbazar area with the slogan to save people and reduce prices.
Congress leaders stated that prices of essential items from sugar to onion are continuously increasing, which is increasing the financial burden on common people.
Leaders claimed that government steps like task forces are not enough to control inflation and black marketing.
The protest was led by District Congress President Amit Bhattacharya, Town Block President Amlan Munshi, and former District President Pinaki Sengupta.
Leaders visited various shops during the march to talk with traders about the reasons behind sudden price hikes and urged them not to sell goods at higher prices.
