CID Starts Probe Against TMC MP Kirti Azad Extortion Case

The CID has taken over the investigation against Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Kirti Azad following an extortion case registered at the Raniganj police station. The complaint was filed by local resident Rahul Ghosh, accusing the MP and his associates of demanding money.
Details of the FIR and Named Accused
According to the police, the FIR names MP Kirti Azad along with his personal security officer, a contractor, a representative, and a personal assistant. The case was registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Allegations Made by the Complainant
The complainant alleged that he was called to the MP bungalow in Durgapur where pressure was put on him to stop HP gas sub-dealership activities and pay 15 lakh rupees. Further allegations include threats to life and demands for illegal money collection from local traders.
