CID Arrests Head Teacher And Clerk In Malda Tab Scam

CID has arrested a head teacher and a clerk in Malda district in connection with the state-wide student tab money scam. The arrests were made on Friday morning from Kendapukur High School located in Habibpur.

Court Sends Accused To CID Custody

Both accused persons were produced in the Malda district court after their arrest. The court has directed to send the head teacher Dulal Mondal and clerk Rajesh Chaudhary to five days of CID custody for further questioning.

Background Of The Tab Scam Case

The scam came to light in November 2024 when funds meant for student tabs were diverted to wrong bank accounts instead of students. CID took over the investigation after allegations surfaced in multiple schools across Malda. During the probe, it was found that tab money for 91 students of Kendapukur High School went to other accounts, leading to police complaints and the recent arrests.
