A student team from the Central University of Haryana in Mahendergarh has left for Himachal Pradesh to study disaster risks and landslides. University officials flagged off the student group on Wednesday for this regional study tour.
University officials advised students to maintain discipline and note down study details carefully during the visit. This regional tour helps students build a practical understanding of their subject by connecting classroom theory with real-world situations.
Students will study Shimla, Kalpa, Chitkul, and surrounding areas during the tour. The mountainous terrain of Himachal Pradesh is sensitive to natural disasters like landslides, cloudbursts, floods, earthquakes, and avalanches, giving students a chance to understand disaster causes and safety measures up close.
Students will talk to local residents to gather information about their lifestyle, livelihood, farming, and social conditions. They will also study how people in hilly areas face natural disasters and how these events affect their daily lives. Students will prepare a regional study report based on the information collected during this tour.
