A cable network employee was critically injured after being stabbed with a knife during a repair work in Jalpaiguri town on Tuesday night. The injured person, identified as 42-year-old Nitun Dasgupta, is currently undergoing treatment at the Jalpaiguri Medical College Hospital.
According to the Jalpaiguri Cable Operator Association,
Nitun Dasgupta was repairing a cable line in the Kamarpara area when an argument broke out with two young men. The attackers allegedly kicked and damaged the work equipment, and when the worker protested, one of them took out a knife and attacked him.
Local businessmen managed to catch one of the accused and handed him over to the police, while the second accused managed to escape from the spot.
Police have seized the scooty of the accused and are conducting raids to trace the absconding person. The Kotwali police station has started questioning the arrested accused.
