BJP Worker Killed In South 24 Parganas Clash

A 45-year-old BJP worker named Bapi Pramanik died after a violent clash broke out over a local puja committee formation in the Baruipur area of South 24 Parganas district.

Family Alleges Murder
According to the family of the deceased, Bapi was called out of his house through a phone call as part of a conspiracy and attacked with sharp weapons. The family claimed that Bapi was an active BJP worker who had to stay away from his home for about a decade due to his political identity. They also accused a local BJP leader and alleged Trinamool Congress support behind the attack, though these claims have not been independently verified.

Police Version Of Events
According to the police, the incident happened during a clash between two groups over forming a local puja committee. Police stated that an argument led to a physical fight, leaving Bapi and several others injured. Bapi was taken to a hospital in serious condition, but he died on the way.

Police Investigation And Action
Following the incident, additional police forces have been deployed in the area to control tension. Baruipur Police District Additional Superintendent of Police Atish Biswas stated that a written complaint has been filed by the family and an investigation has begun. Police have detained some people for questioning and are raiding locations to find other suspects.
