BJP Wins Control of Rajganj Panchayat Samiti in Jalpaiguri

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured control of the Rajganj Panchayat Samiti following an election held on Wednesday. Monica Adhikari has been elected as the President and Nitai Mandal as the Vice-President of the panchayat committee.
Election Process and Results
During the election meeting, 22 out of the total 36 members were present. This group included nine BJP members and 13 members who originally won on Trinamool Congress tickets. Despite the initial seat distribution, BJP candidates were elected to both the President and Vice-President positions.
Background of the Panchayat Committee
In the 2023 panchayat elections, the Trinamool Congress had won 27 seats while the BJP secured nine seats out of the 36 available. Previously, Rupali De Sarkar served as the President and Kavita Chhetri Shaiv as the Vice-President until July 10. The President position remained vacant for approximately one month before the new election process was completed at the Rajganj Panchayat Samiti office on Wednesday.
Post-Election Developments
Following the announcement of the results, supporters gathered at the panchayat office to celebrate the victory. The newly elected President and Vice-President were welcomed by party members with garlands and celebrations held within the committee premises.
