BJP Member Majnul Haque Elected Deputy Head in Matiali

Majnul Haque from the Bharatiya Janata Party has been elected as the Deputy Head or Upa-Pradhan of the Matiali Batabari-2 Gram Panchayat in the Jalpaiguri district. The election process was held during a special meeting at the panchayat office on Tuesday under strict police security.

Election Details

During the meeting, 14 out of the 18 total panchayat members were present to cast their votes. This group included four members from the BJP, nine from the Trinamool Congress, and one member from the Congress party. Two members from the Trinamool Congress did not attend the session. Following the selection process, Majnul Haque was declared elected unopposed as the Upa-Pradhan.

Political Context

Local reports indicate that the representative from the South Dhupjhora area secured the position despite the Trinamool Congress holding a majority of seats in the panchayat. Following the official announcement of the results, BJP leaders and supporters gathered outside the panchayat office to celebrate the outcome.
