BJP Leader Scolds Doctor Over Treatment Delay In Cooch Behar

A major uproar took place at MJN Medical College and Hospital in Cooch Behar after a patient family complained about alleged negligence in medical treatment. BJP district general secretary Deepa Chakraborty reached the hospital and scolded a junior doctor following the complaints.

Patient Admission And Family Allegations

Mamta Prasad Thakur from ward number 20 of Cooch Behar city has been suffering from a liver disease for a long time. He received treatment at AIIMS in Delhi earlier where doctors advised that water might accumulate in his stomach and hospital care would be necessary. The patient was admitted to MJN Medical College and Hospital on August 11 after the family sought help. The patient brother Rohit Thakur alleged that despite repeated requests, doctors did not take the situation seriously. The patient suffered from pain from August 11 to August 21 without receiving timely treatment.

Confrontation At The Hospital

The family informed BJP leader Deepa Chakraborty about the situation after which she arrived at the hospital. Deepa Chakraborty had a heated argument with a junior doctor during her visit. She pointed at the doctor and questioned the handling of the case stating that patients must receive services first. Doctors removed water from the patient stomach immediately after the intervention by the BJP leader. Official response from the hospital administration or the concerned doctors is still awaited regarding this incident.
