BJP has no role in Jadavpur University row says leader

West Bengal BJP chief Shamik Bhattacharya said the party has no role in the recent clash between two student groups at Jadavpur University. He clarified that the party will not interfere in the matter in any way.

BJP Role and ABVP Clarification

Shamik Bhattacharya stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not directly interfere in the university campus dispute. He also denied that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad is the student wing of the BJP. He added that burning flags is not the culture of the party and how ABVP politics functions inside the campus is their own matter.

Protests and SFI Demand

Tension gripped the university campus following protests by the Left-wing student organization SFI and counter-protests by ABVP. SFI all-India general secretary Srijan Bhattacharya responded by challenging the BJP to hold student union elections if they are genuinely concerned about Jadavpur University.

Origin of the Campus Dispute

The unrest at Jadavpur University began over a General Body meeting held on Wednesday night. Jadavpur MLA Sarbari Mukherjee claimed that the GB meeting was being held at night even without an active student union, which triggered protests from SFI and other Left-wing groups, leading to the clash.
