bishnupur sanitation workers protest over unpaid salaries

Sanitation workers in Bishnupur municipality started a fresh protest on Friday morning to demand their pending salary payments. The workers stated that they had protested around a week ago for the same reason but called it off after receiving assurances from the administration. However, their due amounts have still not been paid.

Previous Promise and Renewed Protest

A protesting worker named Pintu stated that an indefinite protest was started on August 13. At that time, the municipality administrator assured them that the payment would be made soon, leading the workers to suspend their protest. The workers alleged that since no payment was made despite the promise, they informed the administrator on Thursday evening. Due to no concrete response from the administrator, the indefinite protest resumed on Friday morning.

Financial Crisis for Workers

Workers reported that they were promised their money within 15 days. However, due to the long delay in receiving their pay, they are facing severe problems in running their households, forcing them to take the path of agitation again. The angry workers made it clear that this protest will be indefinite but completely peaceful. They stated that they will continue the protest until their pending dues are cleared and demanded that the administration solve their problem as soon as possible.
