A high-powered committee has been formed for the political solution and long-term development of the hills following the high-level meeting.
Bimal Gurung stated that this step was taken keeping in mind national security and the importance of the Chicken's Neck corridor.
Key issues like land security for the hills and granting Scheduled Tribe status to 11 tribes were prominently raised in the meeting.
The discussion also emphasized protecting tribal land rights, creating jobs for youth, and ending the culture of forced extortion in the hills.
Bimal Gurung said that a solution may take time, but his party wants a permanent solution.
He also announced that the Chief Minister will be invited as the chief guest for the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha foundation day celebration on October 7.
